In other words, people can only hold power over others until they know the secret to the power being used to oppress them.
Magicians need lessons in the responsible use of power.
Improving Humanity
Perhaps, if Magicians teach their tricks to others, those tricks can be improved on, for the betterment of everyone.
It is a question of motive.
